VW Group is a varied client that required work in a lot of different formats. This included email comms, print work and illustration work.
VWFS Guardbooks
The Brief
VWFS (VW Financial Services) use Guardbooks as a record of all work completed by Havas Helia, this is updated monthly with new work, user journeys and data for each project.
The previous Guardbook was a Powerpoint presentation, that was difficult to work with and wasn't on brand for VWFS. One of the main issues with the old Guardbook format was the readability of design work in the presentation.
The Guardbook design and workflow was to be redesigned from the ground up, with a focus on readability, as well as convienient to update in the future.
The Solution
InDesign seemed to be the best choice for this project, as it allows us to create an interesting document that fits the VWFS branding, whilst offering a wide range of options to automate future updates.
The final layouts for the Guardbook included around 8 page designs, to cover all aspects of a project. This included pages to present projects, whether that be print, digital or SMS messages. Using a smaller number of layouts means we can use InDesign's parent page feature to streamline adding pages, while keeping the design consistent.
Once the layout was finalised with the client, more steps to ensure that the document is future-proof were worked into the file. These include automatically updating contents page and section titles, as well as checking that all paragraph and character styles were set up, if new page layouts were needed..
